Hussain Saba MD, long-time distinguished faculty member, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 15, surrounded by members of his loving family. Dr. Saba had a 40-year career at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, arriving in 1975 as a young Assistant Professor. He quickly moved through the promotion ranks, achieving Professor in 1986 and being named the Chief of the Hematology Division at both USF and the fledgling Moffitt Cancer Center in 1986 – a role in which he served until 1993. He was instrumental in the recruitment of medical faculty members who joined the rapidly growing USF and Moffitt over the next several years. Dr. Saba was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His wife served on the USF faculty for many years, his daughter was a graduate of USF College of Medicine and Internal Medicine/Infectious Diseases postgraduate training, and his son-in-law (Dr. Maqsood Siddique) was a long-time member of the USF/VA faculty.
