Morsani College of Medicine Alumni Society

The Morsani College of Medicine is currently recruiting for three Doctoring courses.

The USF Doctoring curriculum trains students in patient communication, physical diagnosis, clinical reasoning, ethics, professionalism, and teamwork using weekly small groups of approximately 8 students. Students receive interdisciplinary instruction by clinically trained faculty with the assistance of senior medical students. Students also utilize standardized patients to learn interviewing techniques and clinical skills with direct observation and evaluation by faculty.

A subset of the MD students participate in the SELECT program, which enhances the main curriculum with additional instruction on leadership, cultural competence, patient values in practice, and health systems.

This opportunity is a great chance for faculty to interact with students in a very meaningful and formative way.  It is open to all faculty, who engage (or have engaged) in clinical practice, regardless of department or rank. Faculty do not need specific content expertise to participate. The course directors provide extensive faculty development, and your clinical degree will give you all the skills you need (albeit with intermittent refresher instruction). It is also open to MD alumni.

All courses are a 1/2 day per week for the school year.

Doctoring 1:

  • 1/2 day per week either Tuesday or Thursday for the entire academic year
  • Includes SELECT students and DPT students

Doctoring 2:

  • Includes SELECT students

Doctoring 3:
