As freshmen living in Juniper Hall at the University of South Florida, Krishen Patel and Sabrina Prabakaran embarked on a journey that would shape not only their careers but also their lives. They are a dynamic duo, and quadruple Bulls, whose story began on the first day of their undergraduate studies.

As they pursued their education at USF, both Krishen and Sabrina excelled academically, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the now-Judy Genshaft Honors College in 2013. Their time at USF was marked by a commitment to excellence and a deep-rooted appreciation for the support they received from their alma mater.

After graduation, their paths diverged briefly as Krishen delved into clinical research under the mentorship of Dr. Alex Rosemurgy, while Sabrina pursued her dream of becoming a physician. Their dedication to their respective fields led them back to the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, where they continued to thrive. Krishen completed his medical education in 2018, followed by a residency in internal medicine in 2021, with Sabrina graduating in 2017 and completing her internal medicine residency in 2020. Sabrina's journey extended to a GI fellowship, which she completed in 2023, while Johnathan is set to finish his GI fellowship this summer.

Their time at USF has not just been about academic achievements but also about personal growth and building a family. They are proud parents to two beautiful children, Shaan and Alaina, who they fondly describe as products of what USF has allowed them to become.

Beyond their academic pursuits, they are deeply committed to serving their community. Krishen's leadership and dedication were recognized with the prestigious Golden Bull Award during his undergraduate years, while Sabrina's induction into the Gold Humanism Honors Society during medical school speaks volumes about her compassionate approach to patient care.

They plan to make Tampa their permanent home, drawn by the vibrant community they have come to love over the past 15 years. Sabrina is already in a busy GI practice at AdventHealth Tampa, while Krishen eagerly anticipates joining AdventHealth Carrollwood to continue their mission of providing exceptional health care to the Tampa Bay area.

“We are so thankful and proud of our education from this institution. We went from children to adulthood to parents while here and felt so supported along the way. We hope that our kids become part of this community in the future,” said Krishen.

Krishen and Sabrina’s story is a testament to the transformative power of education, love and community, and their journey serves as an inspiration to all who strive to make a difference in the world.
