Jason Wilson, MD ’08, named new chief of the Division of Emergency Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine

I am pleased to announce that Dr.  Jason Wilson is the new chief of the Division of Emergency Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. Dr. Wilson, an associate professor, holds several leadership positions in Emergency Medicine for USF Health, Tampa General Hospital, and TeamHealth.
                                
Dr. Wilson will continue to serve as the TeamHealth medical director of the TGH Emergency Department, Transitions of Care and the Clinical Decision Unit. He will also continue his role as the research director for the USF/ TGH Emergency Medicine Residency Program. He previously served as the associate facility medical director for the TGH Adult Emergency Department. Dr. Wilson is also the medical director for the HIV/HCV Testing and Linkage Program and IDEA Tampa, a harm reduction initiative. He is board eligible in addiction medicine.      
                                
Dr. Wilson has grown the research portfolio for USF Emergency Medicine substantially, especially in the areas of substance use treatment, anticoagulation reversal and infectious disease. During the pandemic, he was also a key member of the USF / TGH COVID media team, providing valuable information about COVID to our community.
                                
Dr. Wilson earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees at USF.  He also completed his residency in emergency medicine at USF. He obtained an MA in Anthropology at the University of Michigan and his training as a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) with the American Association for Physician Leadership. He is scheduled to finish his PhD in anthropology at USF in the spring 2023.
