The first time I dreamed of my white coat I was six years old. I was dreaming of the day that I would become the first doctor in my family, dreaming of the day my hard work paid off, and dreaming of committing my life to serving others.
When I received my white coat and realized a sponsor was supporting me, I was truly inspired. Donors are everything to our medical students. They offer financial support, which is vital, but realizing that someone who does not yet know you believes in you can be even more valuable.
I chose to sponsor a white coat during my time in medical school because I know how impactful that milestone is for our incoming students. My sponsor showed me that anyone can be a mentor and supporter no matter your age, and motivated me to pay it forward to the next generation.
The Class of 2026 will start their first year in a few weeks. I hope you will join me in inspiring and supporting the next 50 years of health care by sponsoring a white coat and investing in their class scholarship. Each sponsored student will receive a personalized note of encouragement with their white coat from a donor who helped make their moment possible.
Sincerely,
Claire Bethel
