MD alumni return to campus to support student success

September 05, 2019 05:01 PM By Krystal Pleasant

On August 8, the new MD Class of 2023 heard from nine medicine alumni at “Student Success: Thriving in Medical School” as part of Professions of Health Week. The alumni led group sessions divided by Collegia—learning communities that foster peer mentoring and create an opportunity for longitudinal advising experience for medical students. The students asked questions and heard firsthand what it was like for alumni to attend USF Morsani College of Medicine, launch their career, and achieve a work-life balance. They appreciated the opportunity to connect with someone who has successfully achieved their same dreams, just as they are starting down the path of their own medical careers.

Thank you to the alumni who shared their experiences: Lisa Champoux-Rhoden MD ’93, Daniel Heinig MD ’84, Evita Henderson-Jackson MD ’10, Dolores Lowe MD ’93, Richard Oehler MD ’92, Anand Parekh MD ’14, Chris Pittman MD ’88, Valerie Riddle MD ’89, and Deborah Trehy MD ’78.
