Jeff Lee Buchalter MD '87 
Jeff Lee Buchalter MD '87, Anesthesiologist and Pain Medicine physician, was welcomed into the International Association of HealthCare Professionals with his upcoming publication in The Leading Physicians of the World. Dr. Buchalter’s career in medicine began in 1987 when he graduated from the USF's College of Medicine. He then completed an internship and residency at Baylor University Medical Center, before undertaking his fellowship training at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Dr. Buchalter is a distinguished member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the Florida Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Alongside his practice, he serves as an Associate Clinical Professor at Florida State University.




Sean Dort MD ’89 
Sean Dort MD ’89
presented "Preparing for an Active Shooter Event in Your Hospital and Community: Lessons Learned from Las Vegas and Other Mass Casualty Events" at the American College of Surgeons meeting in October. He is a trauma surgeon and Trauma Center Medical Director at Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena Campus, Henderson, NV (suburban Las Vegas). Dr. Dort was involved in treating victims of the Las Vegas shootings.

Eric Elster MD '95 presented "Battlefield to Bedside: Bringing Precision Medicine to Surgical Care" at the American College of Surgeons meeting in October.

Danielle Hoyne MD ’12
is recently married and is now Danielle Liudahl. Danielle has completed her residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Iowa where she was chief resident. She is beginning her practice at the Iowa Clinic in West Desmoines, Iowa. 





Natalia Partain MD '12, Kareem Abdelfattah MD '07 and Brian Williams MD '01
Natalia Partain MD '12 celebrated her graduation with fellow alumni, Kareem Abdelfattah MD '07 and Brian Williams MD '01, who served as her faculty during her surgical training at the University of Texas Southwestern. Dr. Partain will be doing a fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center on breast surgical oncology this year.




Nishit Patel MD '10
Nishit Patel MD '10, alumnus and board member, was recently inducted to as serve president of the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgeons (FSDDS). Serving as president for one year, Dr. Patel is the youngest member to be elected to serve as president of the FSDDS since the society’s inception 75 years ago. Scott Perrin MD '07
Scott Perrin MD '07, a double alumnus, completing his USF undergraduate degree in 2003 and his medical degree in 2007 was recognized as Physician of the Year on October 24, 2017 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. This is the first time that an interventional radiologist won the award!  Scott’s family has strong affiliations with USF - his wife Melissa graduated USF in 2004; his father Dana also graduated from the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine in 2002 and is a Family Physician in Plant City; and his mother Kay is a faculty member in the College of Public Health and is also a USF graduate.










Reid Sheftall MD '88
Reid Sheftall MD '88 was featured in an article by the USGA, following his debut at the USGA Senior Amateur Championship played recently in Minnesota. The article highlights Dr. Sheftall's life and career leading up to the championship.

David Winchester MD ’05
David Winchester MD ’05 was promoted at UF to Associate Professor of Medicine, with tenure. Also, I recently got a $1.4 million grant from the VA to study overuse of medical imaging

Cyndi Yag-Howard MD '88 received an Excellence in Advocacy of Dermatology award from the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery earlier this summer.
