It's been confirmed once again: USF Health has a major impact on the health care of Tampa Bay area residents. Nearly a third (29 percent) of local physicians who made the 2010 Best Doctors in America list work at USF Health. Include the dedicated volunteer faculty members (those who teach medical students or residents several times each year) and University of South Florida College of Medicine alumni in private practice locally, and the numbers go up even more – 57 percent of the prestigious list has a connection with USF Health. The annual list for Best Doctors in America is compiled from surveys of physicians asking them who they would go to for treatment in their specialty. The result is a national listing of 40,000 physicians in more than 40 specialties.
