REUNION

The reunion committee will work on planning the fall 2010 reunion for the classes of 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, and 2005. This committee will do this by contacting class presidents for these class years and getting them to start recruiting for the event. Volunteers will also be asked to contact people within these class years to entice them to come to the event. The reunion committee will also be responsible for making decisions about the reunion such as locations, themes and the like. This committee will also start to look and plan some minor details related to the 2011 reunion for the classes of 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, and 2006. If you are interested in joining the reunion committee please contact Cyndi Yag-Howard '93 at yaghoward@aol.com

STUDENT PROGRAMMING

The student programming committee will work on several initiatives during the 2009/2010 academic year. The first program that they plan to get off of the ground is an alumni led lecture series initiative. Committee members will help recruit, and sometimes themselves be, alumni lecture series speakers. This lecture series initiative will cover a variety of topics regarding everything from basic information about specialties to topics regarding diversity, practice management and financial planning. Another program that this committee is hoping to start this year is a program in which current students are assigned alumni mentors to guide them as they either begin their journey in medical school or as they begin to explore residencies. Out-of-state mentors interested in mentoring fourth year students will be asked to volunteer to either host or take out to dinner a medical student doing interviews intheir geographical area. Committee memberswill be asked to volunteer to mentor a medical student during the 2010/2011 academic year and to recruit other alumni to do so as well. If you are interested in joining the reunion committee please contact either Carolyn or Greg Nicolosi at cwn@tampabay.rr.com or gnicolos@tampabay.rr.com.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

The awards and recognition committee will be working to start honoring alumni of the USF College of Medicine who have made significant contributions to either the college or the field of medicine since their graduation. Committee members will be responsible for identifying alumni worthy of nominations as well as identifying appropriate opportunities to make formal awards. The committee will also work on identifying medical student scholarships that the alumni society will contribute to. If you are interested in joining the awards and recognition committee please contact Aman Bhullar, '07 at bhullarmail@gmail.com.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

The marketing and communications committee will be working on ways to increase the visibility and buzz about the USF College of Medicine's alumni society. During the 2009/2010 academic year the committee will specifically look for way to identify new members and recruit them efficiently for long term membership. The committee will also have the standing responsibility ofmaking decisions on dues structures for this year and upcoming years for the committee. If you are interested in joining the marketing and communications committee please contact Valerie Riddle, '89 at Valerie.Riddle@pharmathene.com.

EVENTS

The events committee will work on starting many new alumni events during the 2009/2010 academic year. The events committee will work on identifying a few geographical areas in Florida and a few outside of Florida that would benefit from having local alumnievents. Additionally the events committee will seek to work with the main campus alumni society to draw medical alumni to established events inside and outside of the state of Florida. The committee will also begin brainstorming locations and ideas for events for the upcoming year; tentatively it has been decided that our first Florida event should take place in Naples, FL sometime in the early spring. If you are interested in joining the events committee please contact Chris Cunha, ‘85 at chrisc911@aol.com

The College of Medicine Alumni Society will identify and implement programs to encourage and foster the involvement of medical alumni, students and friends in the life of their alma mater.  To accomplish these important tasks, volunteers who are interested in establishing a lasting society are needed as alumni board committee members. If you are looking for a tangible way to give back to the college, please volunteer now.
